A few thoughts of recs and feedback

Ever wonder why a person would recommend your fic, but never drop you a line to let you know they've read it?

Surfing around, I found a few recs for fics - from people I have never heard of, in websites I had never seen.

I'm completely baffled by this. And don't get me wrong; it's not that I don't appreciate their recs, or that I'm upset because "how dare they recommend my fics on their site!"

Not at all.

In fact, I'm rather flattered by this. But the thing is, I was never told that the fic would end up in these rec lists. Now, obviously, one doesn't need to get "permission" to rec a fic. (You only ask for permission when you want to *archive* fanfic.) But, wouldn't it be nice to let the author know that you've enjoyed their writing?

Doing the html and uploading the rec to a website takes twice the amount of time that it would to drop the author an e-mail. I'm not saying they need to send long, insightful feedback, but a "Hey, nice fic!" would suffice.

Again, I'm rather flattered by the recs, but it would have been nice to hear from these people...

I was under the impression that a lot of times lack of feedback just meant that people were lazy or busy. (Or trying hard to ignore you, if your fic happens to suck! *g*) But seeing that people have time to make websites and rec lists just leaves me wondering...*why* don't they take the time to feedback the authors?
